How does AdBlue® work?

AdBlue® is a liquid that enables selective catalytic reduction and SCR technology is based on it. A control amount of AdBlue® is injected into hot exhaust gases before they enter the SCR catalyst. Thus occurs the chemical reaction between the nitrogen oxides and ammonia, which is released from the AdBlue®. The result of this chemical reaction is that harmful to the environment nitrogen oxides are almost completely converted to atmospheric nitrogen and water vapor. Commercial vehicles with SCR catalysts, for better combustion (higher pressure and temperature in the combustion chamber), spend up to 5% less fuel and produce less soot.  This technique allows reaching the limit values that determine the Euro 4 (3.5 g NOx / kWh) and Euro 5 (2.0 g NOx / kWh). In the future this technology will enable reaching even less limit values.

How does AdBlue® affect the environment?

During combustion in diesel engines appear nitrogen oxides which are greenhouse gases and responsible for the acid rain formation. SRC technology has allowed manufacturers of commercial vehicles to increase the pressure and temperature in engines and thus to achieve better combustion. With better combustion, on the one hand remarkably less soot occurs in cylinders and on the other hand, there are more nitrogen oxides , but they are almost completely neutralized by AdBlue®.

What is AdBlue® consumption?

The consumption of AdBlue® with the Euro 4 and Euro 5 commercial vehicles with SCR catalysts is approximately 5% of diesel fuel consumption. If, for example, the average consumption of a commercial vehicle is about 30 liters of diesel per 100 km, the consumption of AdBlue® is about 1.5 liter. With a 100-liter AdBlue® tank, thousands of kilometers can be passed.

Does AdBlue® use affect the reduction of fuel consumption?

Commercial vehicles with SCR technology consume approximately the same amount of diesel fuel as it is the AdBlue® consumption. The essential issue is that AdBlue® price is much cheaper than diesel price. Trucks with SCR technology consume approximately as much diesel fuel as AdBlue® consumption. In addition, some countries, with various benefits, support the use of Euro 4 and Euro 5 for commercial vehicles, e.g.  Germany lowered road tolls for 0.03 Euro / km.

AdBlue® storage and manipulation

To prevent a change of AdBlue® product quality and simultaneously avoid the high cost of vehicle maintenance, it is necessary that AdBlue® is stored in its original packaging. Great attention must be paid during manipulation and transfusion of this product. Packaging, containers, hoses, pumps for transfusion must be maximally clean and shall be used exclusively for AdBlue® product. The smallest impurities can cause serious damage to the vehicle, thereby causing great expenses to the owner.

Regarding the fact that AdBlue® freezes at -11℃, and it rapidly starts to degrade at the temperature over +25℃, the storage and charging system must be insured at temperature between + 30 ℃ and -11 ℃. The recommended maximum storage temperature of + 25 ℃ maintains the quality of AdBlue® product in accordance with the requirements of DIN 70070 for a period of at least 12 months from the product production date. In case this temperature is exceeded the time limit is reduced.

If AdBlue® product freezes at a temperature below -11 ℃, after thawing it is re-usable with no changes in its characteristics.

AdBlue® risk and health

AdBlue® is an aqueous solution and according to the relevant European chemical legislation it is not hazardous to the health of humans, animals or plants. The product is not classified as a dangerous to relevant materials and transport regulations. If a small quantity of AdBlue® come into contact with human skin during handling, it is enough to rinse with water dirty parts of the skin. The risk to human health can be practically excluded.

AdBlue® degradation and disposal

Product AdBlue® is easily degradable by microorganisms. The danger this product presents in the event of flooding or spilling into the water or soil is very low. Accordingly, this product is placed in the lowest class of the dangers to water according to the German "water hazard" test - WGK 1.
Due to the very good degradability, small amounts of spilled AdBlue® product can be easily washed off with large quantities of clean water, with no further consequences to the environment.

AdBlue® packing

We deliver AdBlue® product in the following packings:

•    non-returnable plastic cans, 10 liter volume;
•    non-returnable plastic barrels, 200 liter volume;
•    returnable/non-returnable IBC containers, 1000 liter volume;
•    special tank truck, cca. 23000 liter volume.
•    deliveries of AdBlue® are done daily and delivery time is from 24 to 48 hours from the ordering time.

AdBlue® is harmless synthetic solution, which is used as an agent for reducing exhaust emissions by SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) technology in commercial vehicles with Euro 4, Euro 5 and Euro 6 diesel engines.

AdBlue® is non-toxic and environmentally friendly product placed in the lowest class of the degree of risk to the aquatic environment (class 1 in Germany).
  By its chemical composition, AdBlue® is 32.5% urea solution of the highest degree of purity and constant level of quality, guaranteed by standards DIN 70070 and ISO 22241.

Constant product quality of AdBlue® can be provided only if it is formulated from urea production, and further stored and manipulated in accordance with the instructions of CEFIC.

The basic prerequisite for providing top quality is the system of efficient quality management (QM - quality management) in accordance with DIN ISO 9000 standards.
